Today the market is flooded with Polypropylene rugs. Polypropylene Rug is cheaper petroleum products which make polypropylene rugs more durable. Polypropylene rugs are easy to differentiate from higher quality rugs. They are made up of thin and refined strands of polypropylene(plastic) which also gives them a rough and hard texture. So should a buyer look for polypropylene rugs? What are the pros and cons of a polypropylene rug?  Here we discuss them in details.

Polypropylene rugs are a great substitute for woolen rugs. Polypropylene Rug are made of strands of Polypropylene or Olefin which are plastic materials. This makes polypropylene rugs the most stain-resistant and fade resistant substitute material for wool. Polypropylene is also a smart choice under a dining table because it is so easy to clean. Because they are not made to be an heirloom, investment pieces, polypropylene rugs can be replaced more frequently with updated styles or swapped out for the seasons. They are usually used in kids rooms, dining rooms, and basements. However, polypropylene rugs also have few disadvantages.

Mostly, these “fake”, polypropylene rugs are sold at costly so we should confirm it, before we buy. Another disadvantage is that these olefin rugs require lots of cleaning. Having hard and smooth polypropylene strands, they don’t provide spaces for dirt to hide, unlike woolen ones. You have to clean a polypropylene rug once every three to four months. Further, after cleaning these polypropylene rugs lose their original look.  Hence buying a polypropylene rug involves both its risks and advantages. It all depends on the buyer’s requirement and time of use. The buyer must also be aware that polypropylene rugs do not cost much and they would need to replace it in a short span because of its less durability and bad quality. So consider all these points while going for it.
